Why does changing roof material need an engineer?
Your roof frame was designed around the weight of the original roof. Concrete and terracotta tiles are heavy, and that weight does two things: it loads the structure, and it helps hold the roof down against wind.
Swap tiles for metal sheeting and the roof becomes dramatically lighter.
